Hello, I'm Juanita.
Born and raised on the prairies of Saskatchewan, I am a creative at heart, driven by curiosity and the desire to make change easier for people at work, people in school, and people living their best life.
About
On my high school graduation day (indeed, many years ago), I was humbled and surprised when my name was called to receive the Award of Excellence for Art. I had no idea that it would lead me to where I am today. My career started in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where I studied Graphic Design and Visual Communications at Red River College. Before I finished my second year, I was freelancing as a graphic designer, and starting to build my first business. Before I finished my third year of college, my work was recognized at the Signature Awards in Winnipeg, Manitoba. My pieces were judged alongside some of the biggest player in the industry such as Palmer Jarvis DDB, TMG Marketing Group, Brown Communications and others. I received the award for Best in Show for my work titled “The Anatomy of Type” and was featured in Applied Arts Magazine. I also won Best Work by a Student, for my work titled “The BackWard” as well as “The Anatomy of Type”. This was an experience for which I am truly grateful for. In 1999, I co-founded the firm, Guppy Graphic Design, located in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I founded BigPurr Graphic Design in 2006, located in Calgary, Alberta, and now operate under the name Juanita Brandt Creative Inc. In 2007, I tried my hand at song writing and recorded the album, Prairie Girl. Between 2007 and 2010, I toured the prairies, playing shows where ever I could find them. My album was ranked 21 in the top 30 CKUA Radio charts and played on CBC radio as well. In 2009, I was a featured performer in the EPCOR Centre for the Performing Arts, TransCanada Alberta Music Series. Continuous learning is important to me. I hold a Public Relations certificate and a Business Analysis certificate, both achieved at Mount Royal University (MRU) in Calgary, Alberta. I am PROSCI certified, hold the entry level IIBA certification, and a certificate of completion from Harvard Business School, for the course Power and Influence for Positive Impact. In October I'll begin a Dare to Lead certified trainer program, built on the renowned work of Brene Brown. I've work as a project analyst, business analyst, project coordinator, content creator, corporate trainer, communications advisor and am now eagerly focusing my attention on change and adoption for the modern worker and modern learner. My biggest achievement in life was realized in 2012 when I became mom to a beautiful little boy. It’s no lie when I say I am honoured to be this little guy’s mom. I am also an avid runner and wellness enthusiast. I currently live and work in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
